This Is It is a film documenting Michael Jackson's rehearsals for his 50-concert farewell tour that was set to begin in July 2009 before his untimely death in June. This 2-disc album serves as a companion piece to the film. Disc 1 is basically a greatest-hits collection with the track list arranged in the same sequence as the film, with the addition of two versions of the previously unreleased song This Is It. Michael recorded the title song back in 1980 with his brothers providing backing vocals. Disc 2 contains never-before-released versions of Michael's hits, and the highlight here is a poem titled Planet Earth recited by the King of Pop himself. The set comes with a bonus 36-page booklet featuring photos of Michael from his last rehearsal.
